Go to the Edge of the Sea

Go to the edge of the sea
Lie in the waving grass
That grows up the sandy dunes
Hear the sound of water
That breaks on the long curving shore
The voice that has no beginning or end
The song that has no here or there
Some call that carries you
Toward the sky, or out leagues across the waves,
Or into the luminous, black depths all at once
The bursting voice that welcomes you
Not your mother’s voice, or any other here,
Home, which is nowhere
And everywhere you belong.
